Polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC)drill bits are made with synthetic diamond cutters in either steel or matrix body material. PDC drill bits revolutionized the drilling industry with a wide application range and high rate of penetration (ROP) potential. Unlike roller cones, these polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) drill bits are one piece bodies with no moving parts. The fixed-cutters shave away the rock, making it possible to operate with higher rotation speeds more efficiently in consolidated formations.

What Does Polycrystalline Diamond Compact Bit Mean?
A polycrystalline diamond compact (PDC) bit is a bit that uses synthetic diamond disks,
called "cutters." to shear its way through rock with an ongoing scraping motion. The PDC bit is particularly suited to drilling
through shale formations. which present some specific problems with reward to borehole instability. such as borehole narrowing.

The difference between the matrix PDC bit and the steel PDC bit:

1> Matrix-type diamond compact (PDC) drill is a cutting-type drill that welds the diamond compact to the drill matrix by brazing. The matrix bit is sintered with tungsten carbide powder, and brazed on the tungsten carbide matrix with synthetic polycrystalline diamond composite sheet. 2>Steel body PDC drill bits are machined and formed using nickel, chromium and molybdenum alloys. After heat treatment, the drill bit body is drilled, and the artificial polycrystalline diamond composite sheet is welded to the tooth cavity of the drill bit base body by brazing.
How to choose the right PDC drill bit?
According to the formation lithology data, hydraulic and drilling parameters, select the appropriate type of drill bit. Select the corresponding nozzle according to the hydraulic parameters, and the size difference of the nozzle hole should not be too large to avoid erosion of the flow channel.

Bit Application and stock Before the drill bit goes downhole, check whether the size and model of the drill bit meet the requirements for use, whether the nozzle is installed properly, whether the size is correct, and whether the specification of the drill bit link thread matches the joint.
The drill bit should go down in accordance with the prescribed operating procedures. After the drill bit is in contact with the bottom of the well, it must be lightly pressed and turned slowly (the WOB is 10~20KN, and the rotational speed is 60r/min) for 30 minutes. Up to normal WOB drilling.
If there is abnormal damage to the drill bit, please communicate with our factory, and keep the packaging box, qualification certificate and original trial data of the drill bit, and the drill bit after use (do not remove the nozzle).
During the drilling process, the operation should be stable, and the drilling should be sent evenly to avoid drilling.
The storage and transportation of drill bits should be placed in wooden boxes and packaging boxes of soft materials to avoid damage. The drill bit should be stored indoors at 10~30℃, kept dry, ventilated, and protected from sunlight and rain. Stored under these conditions, the shelf life is five years.
